Tiger Hill

Here is a chance to take a break from busting city lifestyle! Come off to Tiger Hills, 6 kilometers away from Ooty lying on the lower end of Doddabetta Peak. The sunrise and sunset at the hills are not-to-be-missed sights as it is the moment when nature is decked in orange and crimson colours.

Adventure enthusiasts should not miss the Tiger Hill trek amid the spectacular landscape. You can also go on a trail to the hill which is an ideal picnic spot where you can spend time with your family and friends. Youngsters throng the place for unwinding with friends and get-togethers. The reservoir on top of the hill is a source of drinking water for the people of Ooty. It is in between plunging cliffs and deep gorges, offering you a stunning and verdant sight of nature. There is also a cave on top of the hill that has many stories to tell you. If you wish to camp for a night or stay for a day, there are resorts with colonial-style cottages where you can enjoy a nature walk and bonfire activities in the surrounding resorts.

You can see various British-era graves with statues made of marble and granite. Shutterbugs can capture a fairy tale image of mist-laden clouds hovering over the valley. The floating over the clouds experience is rare among hill stations in India. The ravines and forests around the hill are rich in flora and fauna. Magic mushrooms also known as psilocybin mushrooms are found here, but should be careful before eating them because they can give you a psychedelic high. The tranquil and peaceful atmosphere is an ideal unwinding place and you can meditate in the lap of virgin hills.

The best time to visit the hills is between 6.00 am and 6.00 pm, during any season of the year. It is not advised to visit the place during the rainy season.
